"Microarray Informatics" Courseware launched
At CHI's Third Annual Pharmacogenomics Conference
Cambridge, MA, October
9, 2001 GeneEd, Inc., a leading provider of advanced
e-Learning solutions for the life science industry, officially launched
its newest Advanced Courseware entitled "Microarray Informatics".
"Microarray Informatics" was created, using a live workshop developed
by 3rd Millennium, Inc. as the template. The half-day workshop has
been given at several CHI conferences, receiving extremely favorable
feedback. Dr. Jack Pollard, head of 3rd Millennium's microarray
informatics practice, led their team of instructors who served as
Scientific Content Providers for the development and validation
of this course. This approach allowed GeneEd, 3rd Millennium and
CHI to accurately capture the best part of the live seminar and
create a course that can be more broadly deployed and accessed.
"This newest addition to our Advanced Life Science
curricula comes at a perfect time," said Barry Giordano, VP of Sales
and Marketing at GeneEd. "Unless you understand how to use these
sophisticated technologies and informatics tools, you'll waste a
lot of time, or worse; misinterpret data."
"We worked very closely with our colleagues at
3rd Millennium to capture the information and knowledge that served
as the foundation for this course. Anyone involved with microarray
data analysis, gene expression or statistics will directly benefit
from the information contained in this courseware. Incorporating
world-class content, with our validated methodology of instructional
design, creativity and delivery, we can offer a new level of e-Learning
for life science. We also incorporated our Version 2.0 interface,
designed to further enhance GeneEd's e-Learning experience."
GeneEd, CHI, and 3rd Millennium introduced "Microarray
Informatics" today at CHI's Third Annual Pharmacogenomics Conference
in Cambridge, MA. In accordance with the terms of this partnership,
3rd Millennium and CHI will be able to distribute the course. Financial
terms were not discussed.
"We initially developed the live microarray workshop
because we saw many of our clients struggling with the issues of
microarray data analysis and management as they scaled up their
investments in microarray technology," said Richard Dweck, President
of 3rd Millennium. "The workshop and this on-line course will allow
research organizations to increase their return on those microarray
investments by introducing the latest analytical techniques and
informatics strategies into their process."
Microarray Informatics focuses primarily on the
techniques and strategies required for successful use of Microarray
technology by:
- Introducing the fundamental concepts
behind microarray technology.
- Giving a detailed description of each
stage of data collection and analysis for the microarray process.
- Describing the information systems issues
organizations face in tracking microarray experiments and data
(LIMS, etc.) and highlighting the challenges of combining analytical
tools and tracking analyses in an information management system
(AIMS)
- Providing a comparative analysis of leading
academic and commercial software packages.

The GeneEd e-Learning
Experience
GeneEd's web-delivered life science courses are built on and deployed
from its powerful e-Learning platform, which allows for rich interactivity
and engaging content via any standard Web-browser over connections
as slow as 36.6 kbs. GeneEd's e-Learning platform also allows for
the integration of e-tutor support throughout every course, all
via the Web. GeneEd's learning management tools provide tracking
and reporting on groups of users, as well as an individual user.
GeneEd's e-Learning platform easily integrates with third-party
learning management systems and other enterprise software applications
that are AICC/SCORM-compliant.
