About GeneEd

GeneEd Announces Major New E-Learning Contracts with Customers. Training Needs Now Span the Entire Life Science Pipeline

GeneEd expands its e-learning engagements to encompass the world's leading biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, September 23, 2003— GeneEd, Inc., the leading provider of e-learning solutions to the life science industry, today announced that it has entered into major agreements with several large biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. New customers announced include Amgen, Organon Pharmaceuticals, Amersham Biosciences, The Baylor College of Medicine and SOBA (for Session Oriented Broadband Applications, a project involving a collaboration of corporations and academic institutions, including NTT Comware Corp., OMRON Group, Waseda University, Kyoto University, and Tokyo Institute of Technology). In addition, GeneEd has expanded its range of products deployed at customers such as Genentech, Accenture, IBM Life Sciences, Pfizer and AstraZeneca. The range of services provided encompasses regulatory and compliance training (GxPs, Safety), salesforce training and product-specific information, physician education (GeneEd is a CME category 1 accredited and approved organization) and patient education and outreach. GeneEd's courseware has been deployed to learner populations as large as 44,000 people at one multi-national pharmaceutical enterprise.

By utilizing its award-winning, proprietary Repurposing™ and Viewing™ engine technology to offer compelling, intuitive and effective e-learning, GeneEd is profitably scaling its library of "learning objects" to encompass the entire life science pipeline. The recent customers validate GeneEd's ability to deliver e-learning to R&D, clinical research, regulatory and compliance, sales and marketing, and physician and patient education. GeneEd's scalable "configured library" approach, based upon the reusable learning object strategy developed in the software industry, stands in contrast to other e-learning vendors who create "custom one-off" solutions with little scalability or reuse. Because of its object-oriented software development architecture, GeneEd is able to repurpose lessons to different constituencies within a large organization, passing on the cost and time savings to its clients.

"The acceptance of our configured library of e-learning objects across pharmaceutical development and manufacturing confirms GeneEd as the leader in deploying reusable learning objects" said John Hathaway, Chief Technology Officer of GeneEd. "These new e-learning courses, delivered to customers in the areas of regulatory and compliance and physician and patient education, fulfill a critical and under-served need in the life sciences. GeneEd is the only e-learning vendor with a library of thousands of lesson objects focused solely on the needs of the life science industry, and their acceptance by these blue-chip customers reiterates the strength of our science-focused curriculum design."

All GeneEd catalog and custom courseware are Continuing Medical Education (CME) Category One accredited and approved. GeneEd courseware has also been developed to allow simple technical integration of the courses into a pharmaceutical organization's Learning Management System (LMS). All GeneEd e-learning courses are SCORM 1.2 compliant, and have been successfully integrated with 21CFR11-compliant LMS applications.
