Web-based courseware provides a cost-effective,
self-paced, convenient way for scientific personnel to keep pace
with developments in the biotech industry
Chicago, IL, March 27,
2001In a move that expands the resources it offers
to scientists and engineers, SPSS Science has reached an agreement
to resell GeneEd's life science e-Learning curricula. GeneEd's courseware
will enhance the SPSS Science catalog, which includes graphing and
analysis software and on-site product training. The partnership
extends GeneEd's courseware to a wider scientific market, and furthers
SPSS Science's strategy of offering organizations a comprehensive
selection of scientific information, products and services.
GeneEd, the leading provider of e-Learning solutions
for the life sciences, offers Web- and intranet-based e-Learning
curricula that cover topics such as genomics, bioinformatics, molecular
biology, microarrays and other closely related topics. GeneEd's
full curricula offerings can be found at www.GeneEd.com.
The three-year agreement calls for SPSS to market
and distribute GeneEd's courseware on its Web site at www.spssscience.com/services/elearning.
SPSS and GeneEd also plan to develop custom e-Learning solutions
to illustrate the power and flexibility of SPSS scientific software.
"This agreement with GeneEd enables us to offer
a proven training resource to any member of the scientific community
with a need for life science knowledge," said Ken Kirsten, senior
marketing manager for SPSS Science. "In addition to providing the
software tools that engineers, students and scientists use on a
day-to-day basis, we can now offer courseware designed to help them
keep pace with the explosive growth of information in the life sciences
industry."
"Every life science company understands the need
for and importance of continuing education and training," said Barry
Giordano, GeneEd's vice president of sales. "Pharmaceutical companies
and biotechs tell us that they need a cost-effective, self-paced,
convenient learning environment across their entire enterprise.
GeneEd's e-Learning methodology is the optimum solution to address
this growing problem. By collaborating with SPSS, we expect that
our e-Learning curricula will reach a broader scientific audience
than those within the life science industry."
GeneEd licenses its content through its strategic
partnerships with life science experts, called Scientific Content
Providers (SCPs), from industry and academia. These experts collaborate
with GeneEd throughout the courseware development cycle to assure
that the final product is scientifically accurate and up-to-date.
GeneEd's SCP program identifies life science experts who ensure
that GeneEd's curricula are always in step with the continual changes
taking place in the industry. By partnering with SPSS Science, GeneEd
will be able to expand is potential base of SCPs, further ensuring
that its courseware content is continually updated with the latest
scientific advancements.
