Dr.
Salil D. Patel
Dr. Salil D. Patel obtained his B.Sc. (Hons) degree and his Ph.D.
in biochemistry from the University of Southampton, England. He
subsequently completed post-doctoral fellowships in molecular
biology at the California Institute of Technology, and immunology
at Stanford University; developing animal models for diabetes
and rheumatoid arthritis. His most recent work focused on the
development of gene therapy strategies for cancer. Dr. Patel is
the author of over 20 scientific publications, including the book
"Molecular Biotechnology: Therapeutic Application and Strategies"
which he co-authored with Dr. Sunil Maulik. His awards include
a Science and Engineering Research Council (UK) Ph.D. fellowship;
a Proctor & Gamble post-doctoral fellowship; a Welcome Foundation
Travel award; a Juvenile Diabetes Foundation International award;
and an American Diabetes Association mentor based fellowship.

Dr.
Sunil Maulik, PhD
Dr. Sunil Maulik obtained his B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Biology
and Physics from Kings College, London; M.S. in X-ray crystallography
from Birkbeck College, London; and his Ph.D. in Biophysics from
Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass. He has twenty years experience
in the life sciences/bioinformatics industry in the Silicon
Valley, including six years at IntelliGenetics as the manager
of technical support and consulting; two years at Oxford Molecular
as a Sr. Applications Scientist; three years at Tripos Inc.
as the Western Region Sales Manager; a year at Roche Bioscience
as a Consultant in New Computer Technologies; and three years
at Pangea Systems as Director of Business Development. Dr. Maulik
is co-author of the book "Molecular Biotechnology: Therapeutic
Applications and Strategies" with Dr. Salil D. Patel. |

Irving
Weiman
Mr. Weiman has extensive experience as a venture capitalist,
corporate executive, and entrepreneur. He has served as a board
member on private and public companies. Recently, Mr. Weiman
was a board member of Xenomics, Inc., a molecular diagnostic
company focused on the development of DNA-based tests using
Transrenal DNA.
As a Vice President of Prudential Bache Securities, Inc., Mr.
Weiman served as a managing partner for R&D Funding with aggregate
capital of $400 million. He also served as a Vice President
of Electro Optical Systems, Inc., a subsidiary of the Xerox
Corporation.
Mr Weiman graduated from the University of Pennsylvania
with an A.B. in Science and an M.S. in Physics. He also
holds a Certificate in Business from the UCLA/Anderson School
of Business. Recently, he was awarded a Certificate in Telecommunications
and Network Engineering from UC Berkeley Extension. |
